This recent series was created during an international residency in Hungary. It is called the "Hybrid Tea Pot Series." In this series I wanted to represent tea in multiple aspects, ranging from the plant forms of actual tea buds to the idea of tea as social and cultural exchange.
Plant forms referenced include tea blossom used when making Lapsang Souchong (China), lotus blossom (India), and squash blossoms (Native North American). The hybrid nature of the forms calls us to question increasing globalization and the role of the artist in appropriation and blending of local cultures.
