It is intriguing to see how and why collections of art objects
are amassed. I have enjoyed observing how objects are collected
for various purposes and this has given me inspiration for
my work. In the ancient world man collected art to be placed
in burial chambers. The birds outside my studio window collect
twigs to build a nest for survival.
Here I have created a collection of vessels/figures in a cluster or
a series. I like this type of presentation because of the connotations
it may give the viewer.
I have also found that when
placing different objects together their strength and weakness
is revealed. My intent for this juried exhibition is to further
my work with collections of clay objects and to explore and
discover in a contained area how the placement and scale
effects the grouping or collection as a whole.
