This piece was purchased for the Ellis School collection in honor of Rebecca Upham, a former headmistress in 2001.

Inner Strength is a reference to my favorite pastime as a child, climbing trees. This piece represents the feeling I had when climbing to the top of trees and feeling strong while alone with the sun shining on my face. I tried to capture that feeling (through clay) within myself, but now as a woman.
